The Design Hotels Book - Edition 2012

Pick #5:  I love the Mediterranean and after an amazing and crazy few weeks of work I wish I was ending my week at the La Reserve Ramatuelle looks like heaven!

Pick #4: Today I am dreaming of the Anayela in Marrakech.  I have traveled to a lot of places around the world, more than most people should and one spot I have yet to visit is Marrakech.  Anayela is a gorgeous 300 year old palace transformed into an opulent boutique hotel...sounds like the perfect place for me.

Pick # 3: Next stop Matera, Italy and the beautifully gothic hotel Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita.   Restored from abandoned and ancient decaying caves, I love the dark, mystical vibe of this place.  Perfect for cold nights with lots of Italy's finest red wine.

Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita  (Matera, Italy)

Pick #2: Tuesday's dream destination pick is Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali.   This oasis on the sea is also eco-chic.  The first resort in Bali designed from the ground up to achieve Green Globe status.  And there is loads of surf close by.....which means loads of surfers.

Alila Villas Uluwatu, Bali what would I have done without you all of these years.  I have been a devoted fan of this amazing hotel website for almost a decade now and they have kindly sent me the Edition 2012 so I can dream about all the vacations I want to take.  I have been fortunate enough to stay at many of their hotels over the years, some of my favourites include The Farol (Cascais, Portugal), The Covent Garden Hotel (London) and probably the most luxurious hotel ever The Dolder Grand outside Zurich, Switzerland.

Pick #1: Check back every day this week when I share my top hotel destinations.  Let's begin with one just down the road...Endemico in Baja California.  Only 1.5 hours from San Diego this eco-designed hillside oasis is surrounded by a variety of local vineyards all for you to taste.  I can't wait to visit this winter and take advantage of the beautiful fireplaces on the cabin balcony.

 Endemico, Baja California

Next time you are planning a trip take a visit to first, you may just plan your destination around the hotel.
